Gas prices are high. Nobody can deny that. But couldwe make gas prices cheaper? The answer is most definitely "YES".
You see, we get most of our oil from foreign countries. Now, granted, we do get some of our oil from Texas, but the bulk of
our oil, which is used to make gasoline, comes from other countries. These are places like Iran and Venezuela. Now, the thing
is, we get most of our oil from these countries, and these countries know this. So, they charge as much money as they want
for this oil because they know that we will buy it anyway, because WE HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GET IT!!! If we would drill in
states such as Alaska, we could be paying much less at the pump. We plainly get too much foreign oil. In fact, 70% of Venezuela's
oil comes to the U.S. at extremely high prices. Like I said, we could be paying much less at the pump. If only these animal
activists would step aside. They claim that drilling in Alaska will destroy too many animals' habitats. Frankly, I think they
go a little too far. Alaska has plenty of protected land for these critters. Drilling won't be done in this protected land,
so what's the problem? Drilling in Alaska will make life so much easier. What will it take to get these activists to give
in? To have gas be $3.50 a gallon? Dependence on foreign oil is making life so much more difficult. If we don't pay to drill
now, we'll pay for oil later.
