America has a well-known policy of many freedoms. The freedom of speech and the freedom of religion are just a few examples.
When the question over abortion srises, the problem is that the Constitution just does not clarify where those freedoms end.
Abortion, which is legal in America (Roe v. Wade), has had many of the Congressmen with their panties in a bunch. What
they don't see is that this problem could be resolved very quickly; abortion should be clearly alowed in America.
It was no fluke that abortion was legalized nearly thirty years ago. By the way, if you don't know, the law was legalized
by a 7 to 2 majority in the Supreme Court. It's just that the far right conservatives don't quite get where a life begins
and when a cluster of cells is just a cluster of cells.
It's those conservatives that call these women who get abortion "devil worshippers". Apparently, they don't
know the facts. Statistically, concerning women who have had abortions, only 23.7% do not practice religion. That's less that
1/4.
When talking about abortion, one can't help bringing up the fact that people can do what they want with their own bodies.
People are allowed to get piercings and tatoos, so why can't they have abortions? That is just a thought. But then, another
question is brought about concerning when a baby is alive.
The Supreme Court ruled that once scientists, philosophers, and theologians agreed on this, they will set the standard.
But until then, the Supreme Court has set the standards. They said that until a fetus is old enough to live outside of the
mother's body, it is not living. Usually, a fetus can live outside of the body by the middle of the third trimester.
Perhaps this conflict will never be resolved. Maybe all this bickering has been in vain. Whether an answer to this question
of the ages is revealed, we can only specualte. And, one things for sure: speculation can be dangerous.
