It's time to paint the world a new color.

Green is my favorite color. Yep...just thought I might throw that out there. I like green mainly because it reminds me of life and growth. As of late, however, green has become more than my favorite color, it has become my favorite lifestyle. And, I bet, most of the world is right behind me for once.

Now, what exactly is the green lifestyle? No, it's not strumming your guitar and listening to some Peter, Paul, and Mary albums; it's treating the earth with respect, something that hasn't been done in quite some time. I'm talking thousands of years.

Let's go to ancient Egypt, shall we? We shall. Anyway, the ancient Egyptians really loved their Earth. They worshipped the gods of every major natural occurrence for crying in a bucket. They may not have understood what it was that they were doing, but they did it nonetheless.

Okay, enough with the ancient boring crap of the B.C. times. Let's go to the early 1900's. Why, you ask? Because that was when the automobile came out. What would eventually be one of the worst polluters of them all started out as a rather environmentally friendly commodity. Henry Ford, in fact, actually planned to run the Model T on ethonol made from fermented plant matter. Also, Diesel alose planned to run his engine on peanut oil.

So, where did we go wrong? Well, there is a little thing called fossil fuels. When the car manufacturers started building cars, fossil fuels were much cheaper than the alternative fuels they were thinking of. So, they made the compromise to cut costs, and you know the rest.

Everyone knows about global warming (if you don't, see "It's Getting Hot in Here"). It is that global warming that is causing many people to rethink what they are doing to the environment, including me. I mean, we don't have to use these fuels. There are plaenty other clean ways to make energy such as wind or solar power. It's just that these CEO's of these major incorporations don't want to spend the extra money to convert their plants.

So, for now, Earth is not completely green. It's more of a brownish blue color, and that is not my favorite. My favorite, being green, is also becoming many people's favorite color. And, hopefully, soon, the world will be a nicer and, allbeit, greener place to live.
